10 ‘Theme Park’ related facts about myself

roller-coaster-2069862-croppedNot quite sure why I thought this would be a good blog post, but since I’m a theme park enthusiast, I thought I would write 10 facts about myself. However with more of a theme park twist. Gives you guys a chance to get to know me better, if you don’t already! So let’s get on with this.

1. MY NUMBER ONE PARK IS A NON-DISNEY PARK
I am a huge Disney geek, so you would probably think that my number one theme park is one of the Disney parks, right? Nope, there is a theme park in Germany that I absolutely adore. Phantasialand. I instantly fell in love with the place on my first visit back in 2013. I have now visited three times in the space of 4 years and honestly, I still get blown away by the park on every visit. If you haven’t visited, make a trip now. You won’t regret it.

2. MY NUMBER ONE COASTER IS A WOODIE
You may be thinking, so what? What some people won’t know is that I don’t particularly rate woodies that high in general. I much prefer steel coasters, and might be slightly biased towards B&M’s – they are so good! So it’s quite surprising I rate this over the likes of Expedition Ge Force or Nemesis, but honestly, you’ll know why when you ride Wildfire.

3. I PREFER AIRTIME OVER HANGTIME
Everyone has their preference when it comes to airtime or hangtime. I enjoy airtime, or more specifically ejector airtime. I love feeling like I’m flying off my seat without feeling too ‘floaty’ – which is weird since you’d think I’d like the B&M floater airtime on the likes of Shambhala. Expedition Ge Force does ejector airtime so well! Plus I really don’t enjoy the hangtime feeling (like I’m stuck in my seat and hanging on against the restraint – even if the coaster has lap bars.) No thanks. Give me that ejector airtime!

4. I HAVE NEVER DONE A LIFTHILL WALK
Don’t judge me but I have never experienced a lifthill walk, and it is something that I would love to do in the future! Yes, I know that Thorpe Park do have VIP experiences where you can try this, it costs money guys! I’m not rich! The inner theme park geek is dying to get myself up a lift hill (yeah, it’s for bragging rights) but also something I can tick of my bucket list. I’d love to say I’ve done it and I’m sure you can get some great views at the very top.

5. I USED TO BE A RIDE OPERATOR AT CHESSINGTON
Yep. I worked at Chessington in 2014 as a Ride Operator. It’s not uncommon to see enthusiasts working at theme park, to be honest, it’s one hell of a cool job even if it is hard work at times! The main rides I was an op on were Scorpion Express, Dragon Falls (RIP), Peeking Heights (RIP) and Carousel (RIP). I have only just realised that two of those rides no longer exist at the park, one is undergoing exciting redevelopment for this year and one is still very much popular among guests at the park.

6. I’D LOVE TO WORK FOR A THEME PARK’S MARKETING TEAM
I don’t know why but I would love to oversee a theme park’s social media or Marketing department. To oversee new projects happening at the park (new rides!) and how to advertise them to guests is rather exciting. I currently work in a Marketing role and it is not as exciting as working for a theme park. If there are any jobs going in Merlin, hit me up! *wink wink*

7. I AM A B&M FANGIRL
I don’t think I need to elaborate any more than I frigging LOVE B&M coasters. And if there are new ones popping up around the world, I’m keen to follow construction details (just like any theme park geek would!) I also have a small goal of riding all B&M’s around the world but that’ll take time.

8. I LOVE IMASCORE’S MUSIC
IMAScore create some frigging epic music. Chiapas, Magische Vallei at Toverland, Klugheim, Liseberg… Their music is beautiful and is the reason why most geeks love them. Some people may say they are overhyped but I don’t care, I love the music they produce, and I can’t wait to see what else they’ll produce in the future! Come at us IMAScore, I’m ready for more of your soundtracks.

9. I USED TO OWN A EUROPA PARK ANNUAL PASS
In 2014, I signed up and got myself a Europa Park Annual Pass. Since I knew I was visiting the park for multiple days that year, it made a lot of sense to purchase an annual pass. Now known as the Europa Park Clubcard (sorry, but my initial thoughts were along the lines of Tesco Clubcard), you get some great benefits which you can find out here. It’s certainly worth it if you are a regular visitor – plus you can get free entry into other parks across Europe.

10. MY BOYFRIEND IS ALSO A THEME PARK GEEK
I am very lucky to have a boyfriend who shares the same interests I do with theme parks. It’s fab that we can go out to theme parks and just talk about them all the time. Construction updates, talking/debating about our favourites to our non-favourites. It is rare to find a guy and a girl who are both geeks, but they are out there!

That’s all for now.
